September Favourites

September has come and gone, I feel like this year has flown by. What happened to January 2017? I’m bringing back the monthly favourites because they’re my all time favourite posts to read and I love sharing with you guys what I’ve been enjoying throughout the month. I’ve got some fantastic new things to share with you that I have been loving during September!

Firstly, Rimmel released some liquid lipsticks that I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on! My favourite is the shade coral sass which is essentially an orange toned red shade which I absolutely love on myself. It’s kind of a summery shade but to be honest, I’ll still be wearing throughout the autumn/winter months. They’re so incredibly light weight and dry super fast without making your lips feel dry and chapped.

Converse are a statement shoe in my wardrobe and I especially love them for nights out since they are so comfortable but also can make any outfit look fab. Whether you’re dressing down or dressing up, converse just don’t seem to make an outfit look bad. I bought a white pair (I’m silly, I know I’ll get them dirty eventually) and I’ve been living in them. If you’re a student like I am, you can get 10% off when you purchase any item from schuch which is where I bought mine from.

This will be the second time I’ve mentioned this jacket on my blog but I just can’t help it. I purchased a suede biker jacket from New Look last month and I honestly thought it was the biggest mistake and that I wouldn’t ever wear it since I didn’t know how to dress it. However, I was wrong and this jacket as become my absolute go to! I’ve been loving it. I’ll wear it with a pair of jeans, boots and a white top or even with a skirt, cami and converse for nights out. It’s become a statement jacket that I couldn’t live without.

Since moving back to uni green tea is all I drink (other than wine..). My current favourites are mint, along with apple and cucumber! They’re so refreshing to drink and really help to detox your body, especially after a heavy weekend of drinking.

I’ve been regularly going to the gym to workout and I never ever thought I would enjoy going but I just love how it’s been making me feel. I’m so much more energetic and lively now I’ve been regularly working out! An hour a day in the gym and a 15 minute session of yoga really does make the world of difference. I’m a totally different person! Honestly, I don’t think I could stop going now. I picked up a big at the end of the month and actually felt so guilty for not going to the gym! Although I knew my body needed a rest so that’s what I did.

I finally watched Wonder Woman for the first time and I’ve not enjoyed a film more this year! She was so badass, empowering and bloody gorgeous! The film really was one of the best I’ve seen this year and I can’t wait to watch her in Justice League.

Lastly, the TV show Victoria returned for season 2 and I have been obsessed! I really enjoyed season 1 and I anticipated the return for season 2 and it was totally worth the wait. I love the drama and the history of the show. It really makes you think about the way their lives are as a royal family.

These are my September favourites! Let me know some of yours in the comments and maybe I’ll try them out during October.

May Favourites

May is over.. Summer is near and this will be my final monthly favourites until my return this September and I’ll upload a September favourites in October. I’ve had a really chill month, I finished my degree and I went home for a few days and I’ve really just enjoyed relaxing. I think that’s what I’ve loved most about May, the time I’ve had to just enjoy my achievements.

Throughout the month I’ve had some pretty exciting things happen. The biggest being, I submitted my dissertation and I’ve finally finished my degree! It’s been an eventful 3 years but I’ve loved my time in Aberystwyth and I’m sure I’ll continue to love it when I return in a  few months time. I also went to an awards ceremony for the societies in Aberystwyth University and I received 3rd place for Societies Personality of the Year as well as receiving my Full Colours which are both wonderful and incredible achievements.

However, the things I’ve mostly loved this month are actually a few beauty/makeup related things. Firstly, DEWY SKIN! I’ve brought it back and I love it. I’ve been using less power and embracing a bit of a more dewy and fresh look instead of matte and I’ve loved it. I feel so summery and just a bit more glowing. It’s really pretty and flatters my skin a lot. I’ll probably be doing this for the rest of the summer.

The Too Faced Sweet Peach palette has been my go-to palette since I received it on my birthday last month. Matts parents bought me it and I love it. It’s the ideal palette for summer/spring and has the most gorgeous pink tones which I love. I use this non-stop and I’m very happy with it.

I’ve been using the L’Oreal True Match foundation and I forgot how good it really is. It’s beautiful on the skin and I use this product to create my dewy looks and I cant fault it. The formula is outstanding and it doesn’t even look drugstore at all. Totally recommend!

I also purchased a liquid highlight and I’m still testing it out, it’s the Maybelline Master Strobing liquid in light. I use it on the high points of my face and the pink tones just make my skin look beautiful. I like that it’s not sticky too!

I’ve been testing out cream contour and although I can’t say I’ve mastered it I do like the look it gives. My makeup looks totally natural when I cream contour but the best bit is that it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.

Also on this list, the Freedom Brow Pomade. THIS STUFF. For only £5 it’s an absolute bargain, I wouldn’t know as I’ve never tried to ABH brow pomade but apparently it’s a dupe but for the fraction of the price.

I’ve also been loving my minimal/no makeup days. Since I haven’t been going many places I haven’t seen the need to put a full face of makeup on. So if I’m just popping to the supermarket or to sit on the beach, I’ll basically just use skincare and the L’Oreal Lumi Maqiue primer and my skin just tools really fresh and glowy.

Tell me what you’ve been loving & take a look at my social media:

April Favourites

April has come to end which means that 1. My dissertation and end of degree is SO CLOSE. 2. I’ll be heading off to America for my 3 month adventure next next month! How exciting. Although, it does also mean that my birthday came for this year and I am officially 21 years old.

Not going to lie but I haven’t really had many favourites at all this month. It’s been Easter break and I have spent my three weeks off writing my dissertation and finishing my final assignment. I’m also incredibly poor since payday still hasn’t made it my way yet. It’s really not been that exciting but I have a few things that I’ve been loving this month.

Firstly, I went back to work part time! I know this isn’t something big for most but I love to work. I stopped so I could do better in my degree and I was really thankful that I done this. However, I wanted to save more money to go away with. I really enjoy the independence I have when I work and how fulfilling it feels to have completed something different to uni work. Now I’m finishing my degree I’ll actually be working all through the summer as well which makes me very happy!

I’ve realised this month how much I really enjoy student life. Don’t get me wrong, being poor and gaining excessive amounts of weight isn’t exactly what I want in life but I do really love being a student. I love the the new knowledge I gain when I read a book and write an essay. I love the life I have in Aberystwyth and how grateful I am to go to a university in such a beautiful little town. I love how I can have the whole of Easter to myself to write my essay’s and binge watch Netflix.. How can I complain?! its definitely going to be emotional when I leave student life behind.

I received the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette for my birthday from Matt’s parents and I bloody love it. Firstly, it smells incredible but I really wanted it for the selection of colours that it has to offer. It has such a wide range of shades that are perfect for the summer time and as I’m only taking one eye shadow palette with me this summer, I think this is the one I’ll be travelling with! Perhaps I’ll give a proper review of my beloved palette.

I’ve read a few books this month and I’m really loving getting back into my reading. Out of all the books I’ve read (I say all.. like 3) I really enjoyed reading A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. It was beautifully written and such an enjoyable read. Fortunately for you guys I’ve got a review up next month on this brilliant book! Look out of it.

There we have my April faves. I know there isn’t much but generally this month has been real chill! I’m sure next months will be a bit more fun.

March Favourites

March has ended which means that my 21st birthday isn’t long away and I’m probably more excited than I should be. Since March has finished it’s time to let you guys know what I’ve been loving throughout the month and my recommendations to you, so let’s jump straight into it.

For the month of March I did put myself on a beauty spending ban (I did buy a couple of little things, naughty of me) so I don’t have that many products to share with you guys!

Real Techniques has released new brushes with Superdrug and they’re called the MultiTech Collection. They’re on the pricey side for Real Techniques and I said in my beauty wishlist post that I wanted to try some of these brushes. They come in a selection that caters for the face and eyes but also include a beauty sponge for £9.99. I already love the Real Techniques Bold Metals Diamond Sponge, I swear by it so I’m definitely looking forward to giving their new sponge a try. However, I actually purchased the XL Point Brush which is extremely large, I paid £13.49 but it’s usually £17.99. It’s a universal brush that can be used for powder, bronzer, foundation and tinted moisturiser. I have used the brush for all these applications and I definitely agree and think that this brush is incredible. It’s such good quality and makes my makeup look flawless and it’s so easy and quick to do now since the brush is so big. I absolutely love it!

I’ve been loving the L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara. This stuff, UGHHHH! SO GOOD. To start with, this is super black and creates such dark lashes which I personally love for a glam look. It also adds so much volume to my lashes that I don’t ever wear falsies with it. It’s a brilliant mascara for the drugstore and I will definitely be repurchasing.

I’ve not been all that well this month, so I’ve been watching Netflix far too often. However, they recently added Inside West Coast Customs to the list and I’ve been loving it! It brings back so many memories to my childhood and I find it s interesting how they make these incredible cars.

I’ve read a few books this month and I had two favourites. The first being The One We Fell In Love With by Paige Toon and a review is already up on this book. The second is All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven and a review will be up on this book next month. They’re both beautiful, heart warming stories and definitely both have different story lines. I loved each of them so much but for completely different reasons. Paige Toon’s novel is about three identical triplets who at some point in their lives all fell in love with the same guy, a little less realistic but still a lovely and easy read. Where as Jennifer Niven’s novel is a more sensitive novel about mental health and suicide awareness.

There we have it, a little boring this month but my month favourites have arrived! Let me know what you’ve been loving.

January Favourites

January 2017 has come to an end and it has been very good to me! During the month I’ve been loving so many new product and other little things. I’m just going to jump right into my January favourites because there are quite a few to get through.

Firstly, I’ve cut and coloured my hair and although it was already in an alright condition I wanted to improve it  and make it healthier. I come across the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Colour Deep Conditioning Treatment. I purchase this from my local Boots or Superdrug for £4.99 but I know that Savers sell it for slightly cheaper, I use any of these shops. It’s really helped to smooth out my frizzy hair and create a beautiful shine. It’s also helped to increase the colour of my hair and after colouring it a dark blonde it’s now slightly lighter. It’s brilliant for the price and totally worth it the £4.99.

For Christmas I received the Too Faced Hotel Grand Cafe collection, which was a limited edition palette. The collection comes with 3 beautiful palettes which consist of 6 eyeshadows and 1 blusher or bronzer as well as a small sample of the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. I’ve been loving these eyeshadows, they all blend together perfectly and the wide combination of eyeshadows in each palette means that you can create a look using all 3 palettes, so you definitely get your money’s worth. Unfortunately I’m not sure how much this cost but I know it’s from Debenhams and I’m not sure whether it’s still available. If you can get your hands on it I totally recommend purchasing it as it has all the colours you’ll ever need to any makeup look.

My final beauty product is the Sleek Matte me Liquid Lipstick in Birthday Suit and Velvet Slipper. I’ve mentioned Birthday Suit in another favourites before and it’s a beautiful beige colour with pink tones. It’s perfect for an everyday look or even a glam night out. It’s definitely universal and will suit so many skin tones. Another from the collection that I’ve been loving is Velvet Slipper which is totally out of my comfort zone but yet still gorgeous and I absolutely love this. It’s dark purple and I’ve been wearing this with a natural eye to make the lip colour stand out more and it’s beautiful. The formula of these liquid lipsticks are incredible and they don’t feel heavy or sticky. However, they do transfer slightly when eating or drinking and you will definitely have to redo if you have eaten or drank a lot. They’re available in Boots and Superdrug for around £5 but totally worth it.

From beauty to fashion, January has given me some gorgeous new clothing items this month including this beautiful red rain coat from New Look. This was £35.99 and totally worth every penny. I love bright coloured rain coats and I was definitely in need of a new coat in the rainy weather so when I saw this I fell in love with it. It’s perfectly for a jeans and boots look and has a lovely fit.

I went into Dorothy Perkins to take a look at their sale items and I had been looking for a pair of black statement heeled boots for both a night time look or day time. I come across these and knew they were exactly what I was looking for. They are basic black boots that can really make an outfit which was what I wanted. They were originally £35 and I paid £25 and they are a definitely bargain.

For Christmas I also received The Fresh Prince of Bel Air box set and I have been binge watching it. Shortly after Christmas it was also made available on Netflix which is fantastic for all those who want to watch it but don’t own it. It’s very old school comedy and Will Smith is brilliant in it. If you don’t know what it is, it’s about a family living in Bel Air and take in their nephew Will to give him a better life and out of the trouble that he was one getting in when living with his mother in Philadelphia.

Matt and I regularly watch films together, as do many couples. However, this one film we watched was life changing and utterly brilliant. Eye in the Sky was definitely my favourite film that I’ve been in a long time. I can’t really explain the movie too much without giving spoilers but I will say that it was especially special as it was in memory of Alan Rickman.

Ed Sheeran released 2 new singles in preparation for his new album which is due to be released early this year. They both are fantastic but my favourite is Shape of You, it’s so catchy and upbeat. Definitely different to his usual songs but still one of his best. I love it a lot and have been listening to it repeatedly.

I have been introduced to green tea and it has totally converted me from my love of fizzy drinks. I haven’t stopped buying it and eventually I may have nowhere to store them but my favourites have been mint as well as pineapple and passionfruit. They’re so refreshing and make my body feel so much more healthier.

Finally, my last favourite of January are Kettle Chips, specifically the cheddar and red onion flavour. I don’t really know what to say about them except that I like them a lot and will definitely have to stop eating them in fear of actually becoming one.

There we have it, my January favourites! Let me know some of yours and in the meantime, take a look at my social media:

December Favourites

December is over! So hello January 2017. Since Christmas is in December I received some wonderful gifts but I also purchased a few things myself, so here’s my monthly favourites. Enjoy! I don’t have many favourites this month but i’ve

The first thing I’ve been loving are the Garnier Sheet Masks. These are available in Boots and Superdrug for £1.50. I was looking for an affordable sheet mask and I found it in these. They’re fantastic. I love them so much and my skin feels so good for using them. I use one a week and have done throughout the month of December. In fact, I’ve written a post about them! It’ll be live within the next few weeks so wait around for it. They’re such a good buy and I can see me using them for a long time.

Throughout the month I’ve been trying out a new mascara. The Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Black mascara. Now, I’ve got mixed reviews about this mascara but overall I’ve really enjoyed using this for a basic and natural eye look.It doesn’t clump unless I put it for more than 2 coats on. The main thing I like about this mascara is how much length it adds to my lashes and adds dimension. At the moment it’s my go to mascara and I’ve really enjoyed trying it out and will definitely be purchasing another.

I’ve been trying to remove fizzy drinks from my diet as they’re awful for you and so far it’s been going super well. To do this I’ve been drinking a lot more flavoured water and I’ve been really enjoying it. They’re super refreshing and I’ve found it to be beneficial towards my body. Now I sleep better, I have more energy and my skin is clearer. It’ll definitely be something I carry on doing throughout 2017. My favourites are apple and raspberry, as well as orange and mango.

Books have been a necessity in my life for so long and with all the free time I’ve had throughout the Christmas holidays I’ve been reading a lot more than usual. I really appreciate books and the imagination and creativity that comes from them. They’re a part of me and will always be a stress reliever to me. I love nothing more than to cuddle up in bed with a book in my hand. My recent post is about my favourite books that I’ve read throughout 2016, you should take a look because there are some good ones on there.

Let me know what you’ve been loving throughout the month!

Favourite Things About Christmas

Hey, Guys!

Christmas is near and I’ve just finished university for 3 whole weeks, yippee! As a little treat to you guys, for this full week you’ll be getting a new post everyday until Christmas Eve. Be sure to check back here everyday at 1pm for a new blog post. Merry Christmas!

As you know by now I love Christmas and for my family it’s a busy time of year but it’s the best. There is nothing better than spending the festive period with your loved ones to celebrate. We make such a huge effort at Christmas time and my parents home looks like Santa’s grotto for around 6 weeks (yep, i’m serious it’s that long), the kids love it and I love having the chance to relax and spend time with my friends and family. I thought I’d let you guys know what my favourite things are about Christmas!

#1 – From around November 1st the Christmas Spirit is in full speed and everybody is preparing for Christmas. I love the upcoming weeks to Christmas when everybody spends their weekends shopping, taking the kids to visit Santa and his reindeer and visiting Winter Wonderland. It’s such a great time and I really enjoy the build up to Christmas. It’s so lovely to walk down the high street and hear people singing Christmas Carols and dancing around the supermarket to Wham!. Nothing is better than seeing my Niece become a big ball of excitement because Santa will be here soon. My Nephew, Ethan is almost 1 year old and this is his first Christmas, I can’t wait to see his little face on Christmas either.

#2- Christmas films are a brilliant way to get you in the Christmas spirit. I love turning on the TV with a cup of hot chocolate and curl up with a good Christmas film. It’s so relaxing and peaceful to chill out, especially after busy day, with a film and it’s even better to do with your loved ones. Every Christmas eve, my parents, brother and I always like to sit down and watch a film together before the business of Christmas begins.

#3- My favourite thing is giving people gifts that I know they’ll love and appreciate. I like to buy gifts for my friends and family that I know they’ll love and be so grateful for. I’m not one of those people that needs to receive a present when I’ve given one to someone, I just love giving people that little something to let them know I’m so grateful to have them in my life and appreciate the things they have done to help me through the year.

There you have it, my favourite things about Christmas. What are yours? let me know in the comments.

I’m always on social media, check them out:

As a part of my Christmas countdown each Wednesday at 1pm for the next four weeks I’ll be posting a Christmas themed post, this week is my festive playlist, keep reading to check it out. If I’m honest, there’s a chance all my posts may be Christmas themed.. we’ll see!

IT’S ALMOST CHRISTMAS PALS!!! Christmas is approaching and fast. Each year I wonder how Christmas has come around so quickly but this year has flown by, how is it even the 30th of November already?! 2016 slow down. I do feel like now I’m older the years go faster, though. I will admit, I’m one of those people that start playing Christmas music from November 1st. It’s just who I am, I’m pretty certain I was an elf in my past life. My Christmas playlist is on repeat and I love it, it makes me so festive and excited for the upcoming holiday. It especially makes me excited because I live away from home and I’m able to look forward to going home with my family and celebrate the holidays. Let’s get right into it!

Fairytale of New York: The Pogues (how can you not love this one?)

Do They Know It’s Christmas Time: Band Aid 30

Santa Claus is Coming To Town: Bruce Springsteen

Frosty the Snowman: Gene Autry

All I Want For Christmas is You: Mariah Carey

It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas: Michael Buble

Blue Christmas: Elvis Presley

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year: Johnny Mathis

Rudolf The Red Nose Reindeer: Gene Autry (Gracie and I love to sing this together)

Driving Home For Christmas: Chris Rae

Winter Wonderland: Tony Bennett

These are without fail the songs that I always listen too throughout the Christmas period and especially on the train home from Aberystwyth to begin my Christmas festivities. These songs just get me so excited. I’m like a child, it’s fab. Let me know your favourite festive songs!
