Travelling isn’t easy at all and I like to know I’m organised and prepared for my trip. However, this time I headed on my adventure alone, without my parents or Matt to care for me so I was extra organised this time. I decided to go ahead and pack check a suitcase in and take a carry on since I was on a long-haul flight and I had a layover in Madrid for 2 and a half hours. I wanted to make sure that I packed everything that I needed to keep me entertained throughout the flight and even when I make it to Spain.
Firstly, the most important thing to pack is my passport. It would be pretty foolish to get to the airport without my passport wouldn’t it? I like to carry it in a small bag on my waist whilst making it around the airport but when I’m on the flight it’s packed away in my case for the duration of the flight and then removed when needed. This is usually with all the documents I’m going to need which include my visa (as I’m on a different visa than a travel visa) and insurance documents. I’ll also include any valuables in this so my phone and money with my purse. Since I am stopping in spain I took a small amount of euro’s to grab some food whilst in Spain and and USD for when I arrived in New York.
Next is my entertainment for the flight. I always like to take a book as I’m an avid reader but this time I wanted to take a colouring book and colouring pencils as I’m likely to use the colouring book at different stages throughout my trip. I didn’t want to over pack so these are the only things I took for the flight and I’ll also have movies on the flight to New York from Madrid. I’ll definitely have lots to do!
I packed a few toiletries in these small toiletry bag just to freshen myself up throughout the flight. There are so many germs on airplanes and being in such a small place for so long can really make you feel a little dirty and just a bit gross. To make me feel a little better I paced a toothbrush and toothpaste, I was originally going to bring chewing gum with me but I thought that it would be best to bring toothpaste and toothbrush that I can use again whilst I’m away and will save space (not a lot but some) in my case. I added a deodorant as well because nobody wants to sit by someone who smells do they.
I didn’t bother wearing any makeup whilst I flew because I just didn’t see the point in it really but it’s still nice to feel a bit brighter. To do this I took some skin care products, I really wanted to make sure I had some hydrating mist with me because I just find that it sinks into my skin and just makes me feel more awake. I packed some wipes and hand sanitiser because you just don’t know when you’re going to need these. Whenever I fly I find that my skin becomes really dry and needs a little bit of loving so I added some hydrating moisturiser that will help to make me feel and look more awake when I arrive.
I then packed a few other personal items. I do take prescription medicines so I made sure had all of my medicine with me just in case my other suitcase goes missing. On that note, I packed extra underwear because you just don’t know what’s going to happen do you? I made sure to pack my glasses and sunglasses for the same reason and any chargers I need.

I’m heading away in just 1 week and because I’m so incredibly organised I started packing weeks ago (just can’t help myself) and I thought I would take you through what I’ve packed with me to take away on my trip. As I am working with children on a summer camp all summer I made sure to pack plenty of things that I’ll need to keep me going throughout working but also a few items that I’ll need for when I’m travelling after and when I have days off. I
I made sure to take at least a 8 days worth of clothing but I will be wearing a staff t-shirt (I have 8) every single day so I don’t really need many t-shirts but I did take 8 just for when I travel. I also have my clothes washed weekly so I’ve taken 8 to make sure I have 1 day’s worth of clothing whilst the others are being washed. Each member of staff were given a recommended packing list which I have actually taken into account so I’ll just jump straight into it.
- 8 pairs of shorts.
- 8 t-shirts.
- 1 pair of sports leggings.
- 1 pair of jeans.
- 14 pairs of underwear.
- 20 pairs of socks (highly recommended because they go missing).
- 1 Zipped hoodie.
- 2 pairs of trainers.
- 1 pair of walking boots.
- 1 pair of sandals.
- 1 towel.
- 1 raincoat.
- 2 swimming suits.
- 2 bikinis (for after camp as we aren’t allowed to wear them in camp).
- 3 dress outfits for the evenings: 2 dress, 1 skirt, 1 playsuit.
There is a optional list of personal items that include things like a flashlight, sleeping bag and linens but these are things I’ll purchase when I arrive and dispose of before heading back to the UK.
- Sunglasses (packed in carry on).
- Baseball cap.
- Waterproof watch (with alarm as we aren’t allowed phones in cabins).
- Toiletries + makeup.
I haven’t bothered to pack a hairdryer or straightener because I don’t think I’m going to have time to straighten and dry my hair all the time. I have packed elastics and hair bobbles though because my hair will mostly be up all the time or in braids. I haven’t packed as much as I probably could have because I thought I would just go to the Walmart or Target and get anything I may need like a fan and other things.

Going away for a few days can often be quite daunting for us makeup lovers who feel like we can’t go a few days without a full glam makeup look, but you can. Believe me. I recently went away and thought I would show you guys what I took and used to create a nice but natural look which I was happy with for the few days that I was gone.
Firstly, I took such a small beauty bag and still managed to fit a lot in it. I’ll start off with the base, I always, always, always add moisturiser and I’ve been using the First Aid Beauty Daily Face Cream for this which is totally oil free. I like to use a primer and to some, this isn’t totally necessary. However, I find that I really struggle with intense pores so I included the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer which really helps to keep my makeup lasting all day long and fresh for longer. Depending on whether I can be bothered, if I have the time or what look I’m going for I may only use a concealer or for a little extra, I will use foundation. So I took both because I still use concealer whether I’ve added foundation or not. So I used the Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless foundation for when I want a little extra coverage. However, I also took the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer for the days when I just want to cover my dark circles and little blemishes but I also took the Bourjois Radiance Concealer for when I have used foundation to highlight my under eyes. I also took the Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Matte Powder (Promise this post isn’t sponsored by Maybelline) to make sure everything sits nicely throughout the day. I didn’t take any blush at all but I do like to use bronzer to add a bit of colour and dimension to my face so I’ve used the Boujois Bronzing Powder and I took the Sleek Highlight Palette in Solstice because I simply cannot live without a bit of glow to my face.
For eyes, I literally only took a mascara and I used the travel sized version of the Smashbox X-Rated Volumising Mascara which I’ve been loving and I think it adds so much life to the eyes. For brows, I took Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil in Shade 4 and the Sleek Clear Brow Gel. If I do want to add a little something to the eyes I’ll take some of the bronzers and put it through the crease and a highlight from the Sleek palette on my inner corner.
Finally, for lips, I only took the Nivea Original Lip Balm since I knew I was not going anywhere particularly special in which I would need to look a little extra glam.
I packed this bag to cater for the weekend I was going to have and I totally recommend before packing you should consider if you’re going to any events, whether you have a special occasion and want to look a little fancier. You don’t want to be carrying unnecessary items with you and not bothering to use them.

Having a spring/summer clean out is so beneficial for you. It helps you to look around at your belongings and appreciate the fact that you’re so lucky to have so many things (more than you probably should). Decluttering also helps you to consider the things that you don’t use or wear anymore and give them to charity or your friends or even throw away the things that simply are of no use.
If you don’t know already, I’m heading away to the states for 3 months and I’m going to have to start packing my things up to move out of my current home and store things with my parents or Matt for the duration I am away. Since this is the case, I went ahead and gave my bedroom a decluttering to help make things easier for when I finally head away. I also own a lot of things that aren’t of any use to me anymore and I’m simply just hoarding them which really isn’t good for the little space I have.
Since I am doing this over the next few weeks I thought I would give you guys some of my tips to declutter your belongings and help reduce the amount of unnecessary things you have.
Tip #1: Don’t throw everything away, find other uses. Give to friends or family, even perhaps donate to charity. You may find that a lot of the things you no longer want are still in decent condition and others may want them instead. I like to find clothing that I don’t wear no more or even miscellaneous items that I have no use for and give them to charity or my loved ones.
Tip #2: When organising your things, use boxes to categories your sections. For example: Box 1 for friends and family. Box 2 for charity. Box 3 for the bin. Normally I’ll put everything in box 1 and see if my friends or family want anything from them, if they don’t then it’ll go in box 2.
Tip #3: Stop finding reasons to keep things. You don’t need that cardigan with holes in just because you’ve owned it for 10 years. That’s a decent reason to throw it away (can’t imagine you would give it to friends/family or charity.
Tip #4: G I also find it so relaxing to declutter and give my living environment a good clean. Crack on some music, get yourself a cocktail and away you go. I find it extremely relaxing to give my living space a good clean and declutter, it helps me to think better and feel more productive as well as feeling more relaxed when I’m spending time there.
Let me know some of your decluttering tips!
