Things To Do Before I Turn 25

I’m only 4 years away from turning 25 which isn’t really that long. A lot can change and happen in 4 years but I still want to make them some of the best years of my life. I’m not crazy adventurous and I’m probably the least spontaneous person ever because I like to be so organised and plan things. This doesn’t mean that I can’t plan to do some incredible things before I reach 25 years old. So, I thought I would share them with you.

  • I failed my driving test in 2015 and never had the money to resist (student life, eh?). My theory test then ran out and life got in the way and I’ve never returned to it. Driving is something I’ve always wanted to do and although I don’t have any rush to do this, I now am at that age when I know it’s something I want to do before I reach 25.
  • Finish education. I’m soon to start my master’s degree and after that, I don’t really think I want to do a PhD. This is probably the most realistic aspiration right now and I’m okay with that.  Coming soon.. Bethan Davies MA.
  • Visit more of the UK. I was born and raised in Wales and I’ve not even seen a small portion of the country at all. I want to see more of where I’m from and learn more about the history of this lovely country.
  • I would like to experience what it’s like to live alone before I eventually settle down. By alone I mean completely alone with no flatmates. This might seem weird to some but to me, this is just something I feel that all adults should have the opportunity to experience as it can open up a whole world of independence and a way to gain general life skills.
  • Buy something expensive. A car? A piece of jewellery? I don’t know. I do know though, I want to purchase something out of my own money that is expensive but has meaning and a purpose. I don’t want to spend thousands of pounds on a Chanel bag (or do I?!) but I’d like to have something that I can look at and know what it resembles.

There we have some of the major things I want to do before I reach 25. Perhaps some are a little extreme or not doable but I’ll spend some time trying to make these happen. If I only pick two or three of the list I’ll be happy.

Goodbye New York, Hello Wales

You might be a little confused by this title. It only seems like 5 minutes ago that I was saying my goodbyes and heading away for a 3 month trip. However, a month passed and I’ve been back in the UK for a month now, wondering where my next adventure will be.

You’re probably, was she fired? No I wasn’t. I quit working at the summer camp and booked a flight home for the next day. Camp life isn’t easy and I wasn’t prepared enough for it.

Before I left I thought all I ever wanted was to travel the world and it turns out, it isn’t for me. I missed the familiarity of home, the little things in life that made me comfortable and mostly, I missed who I was before I went to camp.

Camp was ruining me emotionally, I was caring for the same children all day, everyday. Slowly I began to feel very suffocated and isolated in the camp bubble. Camp bubble? What is that, you may think. It’s like living, working, breathing and existing in the smallest village ever and never being allowed to leave (except for a 24 hour period each week on my day off).

From the minute I arrived at camp I knew there was something I didn’t like, I couldn’t describe it but I knew that it wasn’t for me but I gave it a shot, a really good go actually.

I had everything thrown at me during my time in the states and I powered through until I had enough. I reached a point where I couldn’t be bothered to get out of bed in the morning. I was emotionally and psychically tired every single day and my anxiety was reaching an all time low. I was crashing and knew I had to come home.

I don’t regret coming back to the UK, not a single bit. I do miss the little family I made at camp with all my friends but I don’t miss anything else. I don’t miss the children, the job or the camp itself at all. When I was at camp I missed everything and everyone and it consumed me.

I feel like a failure. I’m not one to give up on anything ever, I took a lot for me to decide to leave but I knew it was best for me. So now I am home and looking forward to my many adventures. Although for now I don’t want to leave Wales but my experience hasn’t frightened me from wanting to do more travelling. Perhaps my trips will be short time period but I’ll still do them.

Weekend Makeup Kit

Going away for a few days can often be quite daunting for us makeup lovers who feel like we can’t go a few days without a full glam makeup look, but you can. Believe me. I recently went away and thought I would show you guys what I took and used to create a nice but natural look which I was happy with for the few days that I was gone.

Firstly, I took such a small beauty bag and still managed to fit a lot in it. I’ll start off with the base, I always, always, always add moisturiser and I’ve been using the First Aid Beauty Daily Face Cream for this which is totally oil free. I like to use a primer and to some, this isn’t totally necessary. However, I find that I really struggle with intense pores so I included the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer which really helps to keep my makeup lasting all day long and fresh for longer. Depending on whether I can be bothered, if I have the time or what look I’m going for I may only use a concealer or for a little extra, I will use foundation. So I took both because I still use concealer whether I’ve added foundation or not. So I used the Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless foundation for when I want a little extra coverage. However, I also took the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer for the days when I just want to cover my dark circles and little blemishes but I also took the Bourjois Radiance Concealer for when I have used foundation to highlight my under eyes. I also took the Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Matte Powder (Promise this post isn’t sponsored by Maybelline) to make sure everything sits nicely throughout the day. I didn’t take any blush at all but I do like to use bronzer to add a bit of colour and dimension to my face so I’ve used the Boujois Bronzing Powder and I took the Sleek Highlight Palette in Solstice because I simply cannot live without a bit of glow to my face.

For eyes, I literally only took a mascara and I used the travel sized version of the Smashbox X-Rated Volumising Mascara which I’ve been loving and I think it adds so much life to the eyes. For brows, I took Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil in Shade 4 and the Sleek Clear Brow Gel. If I do want to add a little something to the eyes I’ll take some of the bronzers and put it through the crease and a highlight from the Sleek palette on my inner corner.

Finally, for lips, I only took the Nivea Original Lip Balm since I knew I was not going anywhere particularly special in which I would need to look a little extra glam.

I packed this bag to cater for the weekend I was going to have and I totally recommend before packing you should consider if you’re going to any events, whether you have a special occasion and want to look a little fancier. You don’t want to be carrying unnecessary items with you and not bothering to use them.
