Mini Haul

Over the past few weeks I’ve purchased a few items here and there that I thought you might want to see, well even if you don’t I’m going to show you anyway. So, I’ve been preparing for freshers and thought I’d pick up a few clothing items for the Autumn season and I decided to grab a few beauty items as well.

I decided to grab myself a few new makeup brushes. I’m rather lazy when it comes to washing my brushes so I bought extra ones for when I’m extra lazy and don’t wash them when I should. I picked up the Real Techniques Flawless Base Set from Boots for £10.99, it was half price which is fantastic. Comes with 4 brushes which include the buffing brush, contour brush, square foundation brush and the small detail brush. I’m an avid fan of the Real Techniques brushes and I do always try and pick up them when they’re on sale. I especially like this set because it comes with the brush cup which is ideal to store your brushes in! You can pick them up from Amazon as well at discounted pricing which is fantastic.

Their brushes are excellent quality for drugstore pricing and I love that they have introduced more expensive brushes such as the bold metals brushes. The brushes are always so soft, they blend products like a dream and they clean brilliantly. What more could you want?

I also picked up some eye shadow brushes from Amazon, they were at a bargain at £3 for 12 brushes. They were recommended amongst the blogging community for the fact that they are crazy affordable and they are so fluffy, soft and the quality is fairly decent for the price. I honestly thought they were going to be a sham and awful but honestly, they’re decent and do the job well. Bargain buy of the year I think.

I was having a little look in New Look and I come across a suede biker jacket and fell totally in love with it. However, I didn’t buy it for weeks because 1. I didn’t know if I would ever wear it and 2. Not knowing how to style it. So, when I come across it again on the website I bit the bullet an bought it anyway because well, treat yo’self ladies.

So like I said, it’s a suede biker jacket in the colour stone. It’s more of a beige tone and I’m not gonna lie, I love it. I’ve had leather jackets in the past but I never wore them because I always felt like I looked odd in it, so I donated it to charity. I personally don’t think I look nice in leather and I feel strange and I feel so much better in the suede jacket. I find that I can match it with so many outfits (Pinterest is my go-to for style inspo). I paid £39.99 and it’s perfect for nights out and day looks during the autumn and winter months.

I needed some new trainers to head back to uni in and I went ahead and purchased a new pair of low top converse. I love converse for nights out or even day wear, they’re such fashionable and practical shoes that last such a long time. I’ve had my last pair for around 3 years now before they separated at the bottom. If you really look after them they’re fantastic and will last you a long time. I got them in white and I’m feeling quite brave with them. I’m really hoping I can keep these ones clean!

I visited Carmarthen during August and got very excited to see that my new little town has a Lush store! So obviously I went in and treated myself to some bath bombs. I purchased my all time favourite, I Kyle baby bot bath bomb, this is my favourite ever and whenever I have a bath in it I just feel so much softer and more relaxed. I went with the  rocket science bath bomb and it’s made my skin feel so incredibly soft and fresh. It also really helped to relax me and make me feel so happy and healthy minded.

I also bought some basic black skinny jeans because when can ever have too many, right? These were £9 from primark and they sit lovely.

I went ahead to Superdrug during the 3 for 2 offer and bought several little bits to add to my collection. The Collection lasting perfection concealer is an all time favourite and for £4.19 you can’t go wrong! It’s got full coverage and such a lovely colour to highlight the under eyes.

I also repurchased the Collection contour stick in shade 1, this was also around £4 and it’s the perfect grey toned shade to contour the cheek bones with. The consistency is lovely and it’s so blendable, it’s easy to  built as well which is what I love the most about it.

Lastly, I had my eye on the new Rimmel liquid lipsticks and I bought mine in the coral shade. These are £5.99 and I’ve heard nothing but good things about them. I honestly feel like this lipstick was the best purchase of all. It’s so creamy when applied and it’s so lightweight which makes it an absolute dream to wear. Lovely colour and the formula is right up there with some of the best.

USA Beauty Haul

As you know, I recently spent 4 weeks in America and whilst there, I obviously bought some makeup. I did try and pick items up that I couldn’t get in the UK or that are cheaper in America than the U.K. I only picked up a few things, simply because I’m not a millionaire and almost all of these things I had planned to purchase before I went.

Firstly, the biggest item that I purchased is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette, which I got from Sephora for $45. I’ve had my eye on this palette for SO LONG. So yes, I’m aware that Im super delayed at getting this. Until a few months ago I hadn’t even thought about getting it since I thought i had a lot of the same shades in other palettes, however when I swatched it in store I couldn’t get over how soft and gentle the shades are and how the pigment blew me away. I haven’t ever tried anything from ABH before so I thought this would be a good time to trial and test the products. I’m over the moon with the palette and can’t wait to test it out to its full potential.
I also got the Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Control setting spray. I loved the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray so I jumped at the chance of trying out this one. I do get very oily throughout the day and I’m hoping that this changes the way my makeup looks and sits on my skin. I did purchase a travel size and this was around $13.

The hype of this product has been around for so long now and I just knew I had to get it. So when I saw it in Target I didn’t hesitate to purchase it. The Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer has been an absolute storm in beauty and everybody talks about how amazing it is, especially the scent. This was around $14 dollars and having only tried it twice, I can’t give a full review but I can say that the smell is gorgeous.

Just like the bronzer, I just had to try one of the Wet N Wild blushes, I got a shade that is a coral tone as I find that it compliments my skin well, especially with a tan. I honestly don’t remember the price of this product but it was definitely lower than $5 and again, I’m yet to try this as I wasn’t wearing makeup during my time in America.

I also come across Elf Brushes at $3/$4 a piece. I know these can be purchased in the U.K. but I couldn’t help but purchase some due to the pricing of these. I bought an angled foundation brush that I’ll use for highlighter and concealer. The other is a fluffy contour brush, but can also be used for other products. These brushes are super soft and apply makeup generously and comfortably.

Finally, I was desperate to pick up something from Tarte and I especially wanted the Tarte Shape Tape. However, I went to so many Sephora’s and I still couldn’t find a store that sold it. Instead, I went ahead and purchase the Tarteist Pro Glow To Go palette. This is just a 3 pan contour and highlight palette. I do want the larger contour and highlight palette but I didn’t want to spend the money if I didn’t like it. I opted for the smaller palette that has 2 highlight shades and 1 contour/bronzer. The bronzer/contour is quite dark and I thought it would look like mud on my face but fortunately it doesn’t at all. It blends amazing and I can’t wait to use this repeatedly to give it a proper trial. I got this in the till section so I’m unsure about the pricr, approximately between $15 – $20.

Let me know if you want reviews on any of these products!

September Favourites

Hi, Guys!

It’s that time of the month when I let you know what I’ve been loving during the month of September. Almost all of this month’s favourites have been introduced during September and I’ve really enjoyed them and continue to use them. So, let us jump into it!

My first favourite is the TV series, The Fosters. There are currently 4 seasons available and I watched them all during the first two weeks of the month and become totally addicted to the story. It’s about a family of 5 biological and adopted children belonging to a happily married home of Lena and Stef. As a family they love and care for each other through any obstacles that may come their way. As an education student and aspiring social worker it allowed me to understand why people choose to foster and adopt children and understand the way foster children feel whilst in the system. It’s full of drama and emotions and now i’ve finally caught up to date with the series it’s been left on the biggest cliff hanger and i’m so excited for the rest of season 4.

Another TV series that I was brought back to, Modern Family. Having already watched season 1 – 5 and as there is a new season to be released shortly I thought I would spend some time getting up to date with the rest of the series. This show is so funny, the parents are so comical and the kids are witty and smart. The writers have made this such a well written show and the humour is so up my street. Following the route of families, Modern Family is about the Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker family who are all connected through blood and marriage. The show represents a modern-day family and is based on true stories from the writers of the show. I love this show and really hope it’s around for a long time. It’s truly brilliant and so easy to watch. Fortunately Season 8 has begun and has filled the gap in my life.

The next favourite of the month is the beach. I’ve recently begun my third year at university, in the seaside town of Aberystwyth and I’ve loved having the beach and seaside on my front door. Only a 15 minute walk away from my house and I can be sat on the prom, enjoying the seaside air and the beautiful town that I’ve called home for the past two years. It’s truly the best thing about university and I love that I can come down to the beach and sit on the sand when i’m stressed and anxious about my day or feeling homesick. It’s beautiful and I think there is nothing more peaceful than being around the sea all the time. It’s such a peaceful and lovely area and I couldn’t love it anymore.

Slippers haven’t always been a love of mine, in fact they’re often a hit or miss with me. I recently bought these ones from Primark for £4 and oh my god they’re so fluffy and soft. They’re said to be memory foam and they really helpful after long days on my feet to help reduce any pains and aches. They’re going to be so useful for the winter when it’s cold out and I need to warm up my toes. They’re fantastic. Happy purchase and happy feet!

Last but not least, my final favourite is a song was written for The Fosters called Outlaws, it’s sang by David Lambert who plays the character, Brandon. It’s truly beautiful and I think it’s such a lovely way to let someone know how loved they are and how much they mean to you. I’ve been non-stop playing this and It’s always in my head, it’s such a lovey-dovey song. It’s available on YouTube here. I love it.

So there you have it, my September favourites. They’re the things that I’ve loved this month and can’t wait to continue using them.

Recent Purchases // Mini Haul

Hey!

I recently bought a few things before heading back to Aberystwyth and decided to share what I got. I headed to my favourite stores and had a gander to see if anything caught my eye. Primark and New Look are definitely my favourite stores and they’re the ones I often buy a lot of my clothes from because they’re so good for a student budget. I’ve found that the quality of  Primark clothing has definitely increased over the past few years and I’ve always loved their Autumn/Winter selection. Aberystwyth isn’t fortunate enough to have a Primark, so whenever I’m home I always pay a visit. New Look has always been a favourite, their items are always in season and keep up with the trends, the quality is fantastic and the majority is so affordable. I also went into Superdrug and Boots to have a look around, I especially had my eye on the 2 for 12 section in Sleek because I’m a sucker for a deal. I found some bargains in the shops at the moment and I’m super excited for the colder weather and the change of seasons! Autumn is my absolute favourite time of year and Christmas is my favourite holiday. Anyway, let’s get straight into it!

Firstly, New look has some wonderful items at the moment and I really enjoy having a look around every so often to find some new  pieces to add to my wardrobe, especially when the seasons change. The weather in Aberystwyth can be so cold throughout the winter and picking up some warmer t-shirts is so important, therefore I picked up these two tee’s that I’ll more than likely match with a skirt and tights and boots. The first is a striped, rounded neckline and cap sleeve t-shirt. It’s so soft and comfortable, it’s available for £8.99 here. I thought this was such an affordable buy, I will more than likely wear this all throughout the year and match it with shorts in the summer or a skater skirt.

The second t-shirt I picked up is this grey, ribbed funnel neckline shirt with a ribbed texture and 1/2 sleeves for £8.99, check here. It fits so close and neat and I’ll probably match with jeans and tuck it in or with a skirt. It’s actually similar to the first shirt but I would probably wear this out for drinks or dinner and dress it up with jewellery and a bold lip.

In New Look I also picked up a skirt, it’s red and has a textured finish and slim fitting. This was £9.99, online here. I’d happily wear this with black boots or a peep toe block heel with a black or grey t-shirt. I think it’s such a lovely, classic piece that can be worn at any point throughout the day. I’ve got so many of these skirts and find them so flattering to my body shape and I love that they’re elasticated.

I picked up another skirt in New Look for £12.99 and it’s a checked A-Line skirt, it’s a casual fit and super flattering. It’s a mixture of red, white, and black and I will probably match it with a grey t-shirt and flats or a black cami and heels for a night out. It’s quite basic but I’ll dress it up with jewellery and a bold lip. Check it out here.

The last thing I bought from New Look was this white block sweater for the colder days. It’s so soft and warm, it has a rounded neckline with simple long sleeves and matches so well with jeans and trainers. It’s such a comfortable sweater and I can see me living in this throughout the winter. It’s available for £9.99, look here. Mine is actually quite large on me and looks very oversized, I definitely should have bought the size down for a more fitting look but I love oversized sweaters and jumpers so I’m still pleased with this buy.

From Primark, I purchased a few things that I’ve totally fallen in love with. I bought two beanies, for £2 each. Throughout the winter I live in these hats as my head and ears get so cold (I know, I’m super cool) and beanies are also so fashionable. I think they’re such lovely styles and can match with so many outfits and for £2 I couldn’t leave them there. My collection of beanies is growing considerably and every autumn I stock up on new colours, I love them! Especially the Primark ones because they’re such good quality and so inexpensive.

Pinafore dresses are so on trend at the moment and I’ve happily added one to my wardrobe. As I said before but Primark quality is definitely improving and the denim pinafore I purchased for £12 is excellent. It’s such a lovely fit and shows my curves so well. I match it with a long white t-shirt and trainers throughout the day or add boots, tights and a long sleeved turtle next to switch to an evening look. It’s so comfortable too and I feel like I’m reliving my childhood in it. Fantastic purchase! New Look also has some lovely pinafores available for a little extra.

The basic short sleeved t-shirts from Primark are £2.80 and are totally worth it. They’re so inexpensive and are such a lovely, soft cotton feel. They shape the body perfectly and are exactly what they state, basic. They look so lovely with a pair of jeans and a jacket and they do exactly what they need. I bought a white and dark blue and I’ll probably match them with a skirt or possibly a pinafore dress.

The final item I bought from Primark is a scarf. I love wearing scarfs in the autumn weather and I recently purchased a large, oversized blue checked scarf from Primark for £4 and it’s lovely. It does exactly what it should, it adds as an accessory to my outfit and keeps me warm whilst out in the cold weather.  Asos often have lots of lovely scarfs for the winter also, I recommend checking them out if you don’t have a Primark near you.

The weather has a huge impact on how my hair looks, especially humidity. My hair is naturally wavy and frizzy, it isn’t in the best condition due to colouring my hair and whenever I style my hair it doesn’t stay straight or curly. I had a look around and come across the VO5 Ultimate Hold Hairspray, Heat Protect Spray and Mega Hold Gel Spray. The Heat Protect Spray (Normal price £4.19, look here) and Mega Hold Gel Spray (Normal price £3.19, look here) were in a deal, 2 for £5 in Superdrug and the hairspray was only £1.99 (Normal price £3.99, take a look here). I’ve heard such positive reviews on the VO5 range and I have friends who swear by the products VO5 have. I’m yet to begin trying them but when I do I can see a review coming!

img_0546
I recently popped into Boots and become aware of the 2 for £12 deal on all Sleek MakeUp products. I had my eye on the highlight palette in Solstice for a while I couldn’t see why I shouldn’t get it. It’s available for £9.99 here. It’s beautiful, it has 4 colours including 1 cream, two baked powders and a shimmer powder. They’re so pigmented and give such a lovely glow to the face. I find some drugstore highlighters quite chalky but these are totally different. They feel so soft and give a metallic finish but the best part is that they’re suitable for all skin tones! Best news!! This palette has been raved about by so many people, including MannyMua and it really is worth the every penny.

As a part of the deal I picked up the Matte Me Liquid Lipstick in Birthday Suit, the price of this is £4.99 so check here (Unfortunately, I couldn’t find it on Boots so the link diverts to Superdrug). I’ve not ever tried any liquid lipsticks before and I know I’m so behind on this trend but I decided it was time to test them out. The colour is beautiful, it’s a classic and simple nude that I’ll match with a bold smokey eye. They’re said to be long lasting, creamy and they are supposed to glide on so smoothly and are highly pigmented and dry quickly. I can’t wait to test it out and hopefully put up a review about this product.

My final item was the B. Blending Sponge which I bought for £2.99 on sale but the actual price is £4.99, available here. I bought this  in Superdrug and noticed it whilst waiting to pay at the tills. It is the same shape and style of the original beauty blender which sells for around £16 in the U.K. I have read some reviews that state it’s an exact dupe for the beauty blender so I’ve got high hopes for it! If it is a dupe it would be fantastic. It’s supposed to be latex-free and says it simplifies the art of blending makeup for a flawless finish. Its price is £1 cheaper than the Real Techniques Sponge which I already love and have bought so many of them. I’m very excited to try this Sponge.

So here are a few bits that I’ve recently purchased and can’t wait to try. Let me know any new products that you recommend, I love to try new products.

P.S . Super sorry that I missed out a few photos, I had trouble finding these items amongst my mess of clothes that I need to sort out, since I recently moved into a new flat. Eh, I’m human. sorry pals!

Beauty Haul

Hi!

I recently went on a splurge and invested in some new beauty products. I bought all products that I haven’t ever tried and some new skin care to help improve and replenish a little life back into my skin. As a student money is tight and I was fortunate enough to save some money and buy small samples of the Benefit Hoola Bronzer, Roller Lash and Pore fessional Primer and Urban Decay Setting Spray. I didn’t want to purchase full products and waste money on items that I would give away or throw out. I have been trialling these products for almost a week and have been enjoying them, I went to Boots, Superdrug, Debenhams and a small selection through Avon and i’m satisfied with the money I have spent and looking forward to continuing using these products.

Skin Care:

Yes to Grapefruit Facial Wipes – Boots £3.99.

If i’m honest, I purchased these wipes on a whim and I’m actually really happy with them. They smell amazing, the grapefruit is quite clearly scented and it leaves my face smelling wonderful and fruity. The wipes are soft and gentle and are thick meaning that I only require the use of one wipe each time I remove my make up, with some face wipes I have to use two sometimes three wipes to remove my make up but these do what I need perfectly. I will admit, these are the most expensive face wipes I have ever purchased and for only 25 in the packet I almost put them down. However, I’m so thankful that I didn’t and I will definitely be buying them again and trying some of the other Yes To wipes.

Yes to Tomatoes Daily Pore Scrub – Boots £6.99

As I’ve turned 20 my skin has been doing all sorts of things, scaring from teenage acne is clearly shown and my face is more prone to blemishes and redness. I had heard great things about the Yes to skin care and decided to test whether it was worth the money. The scrub is soft which is surprising for a scrub, I had assumed it would be rough. Although it is soft it still cleans and softens the skin and it makes me feel so clean after I’ve used it. Overall, my skin looks in better condition! I have a lot of pores and blackheads around my nose which has always been a problem and combining this scrub with a face mask has helped so much. I love this!

Avon Clear Skin Blackhead Clearing – Avon £1.75

Avon Clear Skin Pore Penetrating – Avon £2.50

Avon for me is a touch and go company, some of their products are wonderful and others just don’t work with me. I purchased these face masks after seeing a friend use them and I hadn’t ever really used face masks before so I thought I would add something different to my skin care routine. Both masks have directions for use on the back explaining to apply a thin layer of the mask across the skin and wait between 10 and 15 minutes until rinsing and to use between 2 and 3 times a week.

I personally have preferred using the pore penetrating face mask over the blackhead clearing face mask. The first time I used the pore penetrating face mask and put make up on the next day, my make up went on amazingly. I often look cake faced around my nose but after using this mask my make up stayed on all day and didn’t look as bad as it usually does. The blackhead clearing mask actually did leave my face feeling softer than the pore penetrating face mask but it didn’t really make any difference to the feel or application of my make up. Although, for the price you can’t go wrong with either! They’re so inexpensive and friendly to your bank balance I totally recommend these face masks and will be purchasing some of the other Avon face masks in the future.

Make up:

Over my time I have tried so many different make up products some of which I have loved and others not so much. These recent purchases were all influenced by beauty Youtubers such as KathleenLights and Zoella.

Kiko Milano Extra Sculpt Volume mascara – £8.90 but bought for £3.90 in the sale.

This mascara has been raved about for so long and KathleenLights always says how much she loved it, as I was shopping in Cardiff I come across the Kiko store that I didn’t even know existed. I obviously ran to there as fast as I could. I noticed there was a sale on all mascaras and now regret not picking up more. This mascara is amazing, my eyelashes look so long and voluminous when I use it, I now understand why it is a favourite of so many people. I will admit that i’m not a huge fan of the size of the wand it’s massive!, but since i’ve only used it a few times i’m sure i’ll get used to it. I don’t use it for my bottom lashes mainly because the wand is so large but it is so generously applied to my top lashes they look amazing. Definitely will re-purchase.

Maybelline Fit me Concealer – Boots £5.99

This concealer is so very popular, every time i’vvisited Boots or Superdrug it’s been out of stock these past few weeks. I was finally able to pick one up and it’s not been a favourite of my recent purchases. I use it for my under eyes and I like to use a concealer that is brightening but I don’t see any difference in brightening when I use it. However, I do like this concealer. Mainly because it is so full coverage I definitely think i’ll use it for spot concealing. I got mine in the shade 10 fair and I just wish there was something lighter available.

NYX Butter Gloss  in Creme Brulee – Boots £5.50

I had this on gloss on my amazon wish list for weeks so when I noticed it was available in Boots I couldn’t help myself. Unfortunately i’m not as in love with this as I wanted it to be. It’s quite nude and it pretty much the same shade as my own lips. The texture is beautiful and so creamy it’s definitely tempted me into buying more of the lip products from NYX.

NYX HD Studio Finishing Powder in Translucent – Boots £8

I’ve recently become known to baking the face, I know i’m a bit delayed. A pintrest post informed me that this powder is a dupe of the Laura Mercier and for the price you cant go wrong. I’ve given it a go and it’s been fantastic, i combined it with the Maybelline Fit Me concealer and its made my under eyes so brightening and look so awake. I’ve also used to set the rest of my face make up and it’s been fantastic. My make up looks so flawless throughout the day, it helps to blend other products so easily and it doesn’t make my under eyes crease. WIN! WIN! WIN! This product has been my favourite purchase and I love it!

Avon Glow Bronzing Powder in Medium Rivierea – £10

This bronzer is fantastic. As I pointed out about, not many of the Avon products blow me away but this one is so lovely to apply and wear. It’s not heavy and isn’t too dark and helps to achieve the nicest bronze look. I cant stop wearing it! I use it for my cheeks and forehead and it brings so much life into my face, what more could I want?

Benefit Hoola Bronzer mini – Boots £10

I bought all three Benefit products through a deal in Boots. 3 benefit products with £10 each and get £5 off. I thought it was a bargain, especially because I hadn’t ever owned any Benefit products and had been dying to try them. Although being a student does mean that I’ve often go to be tight with my money so I was super happy that they were the mini products. The hoola bronzer is just as everybody says, it’s a beautiful contour colour for all skin tones. It makes my cheek bones look like actual cheek bones and sits perfectly on the skin and is long lasting. I love it, once i’ve used this mini product i’ll definitely buy a full sized one.

Benefit Roller Lash mini – Boots £10

I wanted to enjoy this mascara so much and i’m so disappointed with myself for not liking it more. I Tried this mascara for a few days and it done nothing to my eyelashes, they just looked flat and lifeless. I then decided to curl my eyelashes and I liked it better, once curled they looked long and flattering. I do like this mascara I just don’t think it’s as good as the reviews say it is. I personally preferred the Kiko mascara.

Benefit Pore fessional Primer mini- Boots £10

Around my nose and under eye area I have quite clear pores and it’s often a struggle to find foundations that will happily sit in these areas and not look cake-faced or separate. I used this pore fessional primer in hope that it would help with filling my pores, it does! I do think I need to try it a little longer as I’ve only actually used it twice but so far I like it. It lets my foundation sit lovely and it stays in tact all day.

Urban Decay Make Up Setting Spray Travel Sized – Debenhams £9

Finally, the setting spray from Urban Decay is used by so many I decided to jump on the bandwagon. It’s brilliant, I purchased the travel sized bottle from Debenhams for £9 and i’m so glad i did! Firstly, the price of the travel sized bottle gives you 30ml of mist. It’s actually bigger than I had expected and i’m so pleased with it. I used a matte foundation and sprayed this product on before applying make up and when I finished my make up and it helped it look dewy and fresh. I think this is a fantastic product and can’t wait to test out the other two setting sprays from Urban Decay.

There you have it my full beauty haul from my recent purchases. I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, speak soon.
