Autumnal Look // Makeup

Throughout the Autumn season I love those burgundy lips and the browns smokey eye but each year I definitely mix up my make up. This year I have had this go to makeup look throughout the whole season and just had to share it with you all. I’ll even show you all the products I use and I’ll also add in a dupe of the Naked 3 palette which cost only £4! I’m totally in love with this makeup look and I think it’s so fitting for the season and can work with so many outfits for day or nightwear.

I started by priming my face with the NYX Photo Loving Primer. I personally love a full coverage foundation, I have so much redness and freckles on my face I just prefer to cover it up. I used the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation for this look, in the shade 1.0. It’s so lightweight and absolutely full coverage, I used 1 pump for my whole face and it sits beautifully and all day long.

I then used the Maybelline Fit Me concealer in 10 Fair to cover those dark circles and topped it with the Collection Perfection concealer in 1 to highlight my under eye.

To bronze my face and bring some dimension to it, I used the Benefit Hoola Bronzer and a bit of the Revolution Iconic Lights and Contour Pro palette to do so.

Topping it off, I then used the Kate Moss Sculpting Palette in Coral Glow 002 and used the blush to add colour to my cheeks.

To finally complete the base, I used the Sleek Highlight Palette in solstice,  for that extra glow to the high points of my face including my cheek bones, cupids bow and bridge of my nose.

I used the Iconic 3 palette by Revolution to make this eye look, it’s a cheap £4 and is absolutely a dupe of the Naked 3 palette. It’s super pigmented and long lasting, the shimmery colours are so sparkly and pretty on the eye and I just love it. If you’re looking for a dupe of the Naked palettes, head to Superdrug or online for the Revolution Iconic palettes. They’re fab! I took the palette and used the orange shimmery colour all over my lid, this is the dupe for the colour ‘trick’ and then I used the brown shade next to it in my crease, the dupe for ‘nooner’.

I then put a thin line and flick for eyeliner using the Rimmel Glam’ Eyes liquid liner.

I curled my lashes and then coated them in the Kiko Extra Sculpt Volume Mascara on my upper lashes and then the Benefit Roller Lash on my lower lashes.

I usually put a bit of the brown shade from the palette underneath my lower lashes too but this is entirely your choice. I then used the lightest shade from the palette underneath my brow bow and inner corner. I used the Maybelline Brow Drama on my brows and then I was finished!

I coated my lips in a gloss by Sephora, it doesn’t have a name but it’s a nude pink and I think it looks beautiful with the eyes. However, to complete this look you can use any nude lipstick with this look.

The lip gloss I used is from the Sephora collection brand and is in a limited edition palette which includes 96 x eyeshadows, 84 x lip glosses, 1 bronzer, 1 x mascara, 6 x cream eyeliners and 2 x eyeliners.

There is the finished look! I’m not a professional makeup artist and nor will I ever claim to be. It’s simply an interest and hobby for me and I love to experiment with new products and keep up with the seasonal trends. If you liked this post let me know and I’ll do more in the future.

Barcelona & Salou, Spain // 2016

At the beginning of our summer, Matt and I went on our first holiday to Spain. We spent 5 days in Salou and then 4 days in Barcelona. It was amazing, it was the best first holiday we could have had and I’m so looking forward to another trip away with my handsome. Barcelona is a busy, busy place. It’s bloomin’ huge! but regardless of the size, it’s a beautiful place and is full of history, stories, and imagination. It has the most gorgeous little streets and the people are so polite and welcoming. It really is a truly captivating place. The best thing about Barcelona was definitely the fountains, they’re on every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening and are fabulous. Sagrada Familia was fantastic and represents so much history of the city and Park Guell was amazing, in such a stunning location and is a beautiful area to relax and embrace the Spanish culture.

The food is to die for as well, we fell in love with this little restaurant in Cap Salou, called Smugglers. They do the best pulled-pork nachos and my mouth waters every time I think about them. We actually spent a fair bit of time in Port Aventura Theme Park and Water Park, they were the highlight of our trip for me. I love theme parks and water rides and lazy rivers are just the best things when you’re in the sun all day. If you ever get to visit, my favourite ride was Shambala. You should check it out, it’s so smooth and fun to ride and the views are even nicer.

Book Review: Eleanor and Park.

Hey, little ones.

It’s that time of week again, are you excited? It’s book review day! Yippee. This week’s review is on Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. I turned 20 years old in April and I was given this book as a gift, however, you can purchase it on Amazon, check it out here. When I had received this book I had just completed Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and was so excited to read another by Rainbow Rowell. I will admit that I didn’t like this book as much as I hoped too but it does have good qualities.

Eleanor and Park were totally different people, they lived different lifestyles and their families were totally opposite. Park, a half-Korean boy who lives the perfect suburban life and Eleanor, a red head and slightly overweight girl with a highly dysfunctional family. They meet on the school bus and slowly begun to develop a relationship through their shared interest in music and comic books.

For me this book was difficult to read and actually took me longer than usual to read, I found bits of it a bit bland and as if it was missing a plot. However, by the end of the book, I felt real emotions for their situation, especially Eleanor. I do feel as if this book is just another teenage love story with very little plot but found the story of Eleanor’s dysfunctional family interesting and would have I think this story would have had more emotion and heartbreak if this story was emphasised more. I’m a sucker for a love story and if you’re interested in only a love story and no other story lines then this is for you. I personally preferred Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, you can purchase it here. However, we all have our own preferences.

These are my recommended books for this week if you liked Eleanor and Park, or even if you’re interested in other books to try:

  • Billy and Me by Giovanna Fletcher – Available here.
  • Looking for Alaska by John Green – Available here.
  • The Perks of Being a WallFlower by Stephen Chbosky – Available here.

If you fancy it, why not have a look at my other social media?

Favourites // Online Stores

I love shopping, I really do. I spend so much time browsing the internet looking at things I’d like to buy and the majority of the time I don’t actually buy anything because I want everything and I can’t make my mind up. However, I always go to these specific websites first before any others even if I’m just browsing. I’m definitely a compulsive browser, I just like looking at the new trends but I’m definitely the worst at shopping for clothes. I hate online shopping for clothes unless I know the store well and I know exactly what the size of the clothes are like. My favourite thing to buy is home-ware. I love it so much, I literally only have a room to decorate in university but I’m always buying things that’ll look nice, especially photo frames. Admittedly, I don’t actually do any online shopping often because I’m so impatient and I want to have my things right away but when I know it’s something I can’t get locally, I do give in.  Let me know in the comments what your favourite online stores are.

Online Store #1: New Look.

I recently posted a mini haul and I bought a lot of clothes from New Look. It’s my go to place to shop at because I know that the clothes are good for value and they fit exactly how they should. It’s an affordable shop and it’s always following the seasonal trends. Check out their website here. It’s such an easy website to navigate around and I love that they do a New Look Store Card, I have a £50 maximum on mine which I can use throughout the month and pay back the next month. This is such a useful thing to have as I’m a student and money can be sometimes tight. They also do 10% student discount and I without fail always take advantage of this.

Online Store #2: ASOS.

ASOS are another online store that I rely on, it has a combination of brands that I love and I know that their sizes fit wonderfully. Check it out here. Again, ASOS always follow the seasonal trends and that’s why I like its so much. Not only do ASOS sell clothing but beauty and they have a gifts section. ASOS Market Place is also really good for those who like a vintage look and like to find unique items to add to their wardrobe. I always look at ASOS when I’m looking for a sale or reasonable deal, they also do student discount which is fantastic.

Online Store #3: Feel Unique.

I often buy a lot of beauty products from Feel Unique because they always have sales and deals available to check out. They sell affordable and high-end makeup and skincare and their sales are without fail the best around. Check Feel Unique out here. If you spend over £15 online they will give you free delivery, this is definitely handy for me as I hate paying delivery charges. Another pro for Feel Unique, they provide two free samples for orders over £30 and they price match other competitor prices to make sure you’re getting the best price for your purchases.

Online Store #4: Not On The High Street.

Not On The High Street is a website that I love to go on and have a look at the pretty things, they have such a unique selection of items and they cater for all genders and ages. I love to buy Christmas and birthday gifts from this website just because they’re so unique to anything I’ve ever seen and quite affordable. Some items on this website are a bit expensive but they’re such good quality I often don’t mind spending that extra bit of cash.

Online Store #5: Amazon.

Who doesn’t love Amazon? I know I do! I love amazon for everything, it’s such an inexpensive website and is so easy to use. I buy a lot of used book’s and DVD’s off Amazon because they can be worth so little money. I always buy my phone cases from Amazon too! My current phone case was 99p and is a jelly case and does exactly what I need, I even had free delivery with this case, look here. Amazon Prime is such a useful feature for students and they provide new students a free 6 month period using their service which provides free delivery for all prime orders and full use of the Amazon Prime Video service, which is very similar to Netflix. Check out amazon here if you haven’t already.

These are my favourite online stores that I go to buy everything I need and I repeatedly return to. What’s yours?

Birchbox Unboxing // November 2016

My November  arrived! Yippee. The theme of this months box is peacock and it’s bloody beautiful. Birchbox teamed up with Tatlet magazine to design a party season box. It’s fantastic!
This months Box had 2 make up products, so exciting. The first is the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar Primer. This retails for £15 for a full product. This essentially primes and prepares lips for lip products. It helps the lips to stay moisturiser and helps lip products last longer and look fabulous. Definitely looking forward to trying it out.

Next is the Midi Wet Brush by Wet Brush. This is pretty much a hair brush, retailing at £11.99 it combs out any knots and tangles whilst being gentle on the scalp. Really appreciate this as I hate buying hairbrushes!

My collection of NUXE products are growing each month! I also got the NUXE Crème Prodigieuse. Retailing at £21 for a full size bottle. It’s a moisturiser that is full of blue everlasting flowers and helps to boost the skins antioxidant levels. Lovely!

A Birchbox exclusive was also included, this is the Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle Spray. This product is an all in one spray that conditions, smoothed, adds shine, set angles and protects hair. Retailing at £18.50 a bottle I have high hopes!

The final item I got is the Bbrowbar Brow Pencil in Indian Chocolate. This retails at £13 a full sized product and the colour is a medium brown shade. I never really focus on my eyebrows so much, can’t wait to see if this product changes me!

Well there you have it. My November Birchbox! What did you guys have in yours?

What’s In My Bag // 2016

I’m well aware that so many people do these posts but i’m so nosey and I love to see what other people hoard around with them on a daily basis. I thought that because I’m nosey perhaps others are too and fancy taking a look into my handbag. I’m unlikely to mention these things into great detail but most girls, if not all will keep a selection of sanitary products because well, safety first. I also have a variety of clips available and a bobble or two. These are just basic and necessary products that I use on a daily basis and I like to keep just in case of emergencies. You never know when you’re going to need them. I also keep my iPhone SE with me at all times as well as my keys. I don’t go very far without either of them and I will always use the calendar on my phone to remind myself of my daily events. I’m super forgetful so if I don’t write it down, I’ll forget to go.

Firstly, let’s discuss the bag. My handbag is a River Island Limited Edition Suede Messenger bag, I paid £26 for this. Take a look here. It’s a Faux suede bag in  a cross-body style with external zip pockets and a zip top fastening. It’s quite deep and can hold the useful necessities I use for my day to day lifestyle. I often use this bag everyday and will mix between the things I need everyday.  However, these things are without fail always in my bag and have done whilst using my previous bags.

* apologise for the awful photo, I struggled having only one hand *

The first thing that I always have my purse with me. Mainly because I carry my money, university card and my bank cards with me. It’s quite an obvious object to carry around with me and It’s something I know that everybody carries with them. I will carry this with me on a daily basis, even if I don’t have any plans to spend any money but you never know if you’re going to need it. This is also a River Island bag and I paid £17 for this. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be available on the website and has possibly been discontinued.

I also always keep a selection of lipsticks, usually Mac Lovelorn, Mac Taupe and the Tanya Burr Cosmetics lip gloss in Lunch Date. Admittedly, these three lip products are always in my bag because I often forget they’re there and I often just keep them there instead of losing them. I do love these lip products though, especially the Tanya Burr Cosmetics lip gloss in Lunch Date, it’s a very natural nude lip that is basically my lip colour but better. It’s a very lightweight gloss and it’s beautiful to wear with a natural look or a glam eye.

A notepad is obviously necessary for university as I write down so much during lectures and through meetings, library sessions and general reminders. I do remove this on the weekends or if i’m taking a shopping trip though. Along with a notepad, I obviously require a pen and I usually add highlighters just in case. These are a total necessity for my lifestyle as a university student and even when i’m not a student anymore I’ll probably still carry one around. This is my current favourite, I love me a superhero or two.

My iPad is usually with me on the days i’m heading onto campus, I like to use it for assignments or reading in my free time. It’s the iPad Air and it’s perfect, light weight and easy for everyday use. I also use this to make notes in lectures if I can’t be bothered to pop out the notepad and use a pen (Usually those 9ams) or if I have forgotten the notepad.

The final thing that is always in my bag, is my my iPod and earphones.  I find that music is a motivation for me and although I can’t listen to music whilst writing an assignment (I become super distracted) I do like to listen to a few songs to help motivate me into writing another. Usually something upbeat and something I can dance too, this helps to create a little bit of energy in preparation for an assignment or lecture.

These are the main things that are usually in my bad, what are your necessities in your bag?! let me know.

October Favourites

The month of October is ending and now I can share with you all what i’ve been loving this month. Just a little warning now but this months favourites is kinda boring. Having broken my dominant hand i’ve not been wearing much make up or styling my own hair (Thank you Tasha, Meg and Nimbob for being my very own stylists). However, there are a few little bits that i’ve grown to love a whole lot.

I received my first Birch Box, the September edition during the first few days of October. Later that week followed by my October edition. I love these boxes, I pay £12.95 (inc p+p) a month and I received 5 new products to try and test out. I think the beauty subscription boxes are fantastic, I always love trialling new products but I never know what I want because the selection is so wide. Each month i’ll be posting about what I received in the box, be sure to check them out. Go back and look at my September, here & October unboxing here.

On the same path of my Birch Boxes, I recently received the Rituals Magic Touch Body Cream. I hadn’t ever tried anything from Rituals and I am definitely not going back now. It’s so, so, so super moisturising and hydrating on my skin. Currently my right arm is out of use because of my broken wrist and because I’m trying not to get it as wet as I can in case I ruin the cast. I’ve been using this moisturiser on my arms in the morning and night. It’s been a life saver, especially because my arms are so dry at the moment. It’s fantastic and I definitely think I’ll be repurchasing.

Behind Closed Doors by B.A Paris is a book I’ve been meaning to get around to reading but never having the time. I recently read this and I now see why so many people raved about it. It’s brilliant, written so well and keeps you wanting more and more after every chapter. It was one of those books that doesn’t give away any clues. Utterly fantastic. My review will be up within the next few weeks, be sure to look out for it.

Little Mix have released a song from their new and fourth album called Shout Out to My Ex. It’s bloomin’ great and so catchy. 100% was written with a person in mind for each of the girls. Especially for me, whenever I listen to it I know exactly which of my ex boyfriends I relate it too. It was sang on X-Factor and they sang it so well. They’ve come along way since winning the X-Factor in 2011. However, their outfit choices for their performance on x-factor were slightly revealing but regardless the song is fantastic.

I bought the Bourjois Radiance Concealer in Superdrug for £8 check here. I love it, for a drugstore concealer it’s so full coverage and light below the eyes. I got mine in shade 1 to highlight my undereyes and hide my dark circles. I love it so much, will definitely be repurchasing.

These few little things are what I’ve been enjoying throughout the month of October. Since I’ve still only got one working arm I’ve not been trying many new products so I’m really looking forward to having the cast removed.

Let me know what you’ve been loving this month, take a look at my social media.
