Sleek Matte Me Liquid Lipstick Review

The Sleek MakeUp line is definitely underrated, the majority of the products are of high quality and are beautiful to wear, especially the eyeshadows and the highlighter palette! I’ve not stopped raving about the highlighter palette in Solstice.

Another item by Sleek that I’ve fallen in love with is the Matte Me liquid lipstick in Birthday Suit. Having never tried any liquid lipsticks before I saw the Matte Me collection by Sleek in Birthday Suit and instantly fell in love with the colour. It’s a very natural, classic nude lip that sits beautifully and dry’s so quickly. It’s gorgeous, it doesn’t cake up or show any lines across my lips. It doesn’t make my lips dry at all and  the formula is so lightweight that I forget I’m wearing it. I’m not a huge lipstick wearer and I always focus more on my eyes when doing my makeup,  but these are just so comfortable to wear and this colour will match so well with a full glam eye. It’s simple but so much more than that, it’s fantastic and I can’t rave about it enough. It’s genuinely such a lovely lip to wear. It’s encouraged me to try some more liquid lipsticks and battle them out. Let me know your favourite liquid lipsticks and I’ll give them a go.

Overall the Sleek Makeup products have come along way over the years having introduced the highlighter palettes and the cream contour kits, they’ve even released their own brand of brushes and I’m eager to test them. My first ever purchase from the Sleek collection was the eye shadow palette in Au Natural and It was my go to palette from the ages of 14 – 16! Sleek products are sold in Boots, Superdrug and have their own website available for purchases. In fact, I recently come across the mix and match deal  in my local in Boots which is promoted each year in preparation for Christmas. I noticed that they had introduced a selection of Sleek Matte Me Liquid Lipsticks for £5 which includes 4 smaller versions of their full sized liquid lipsticks and Birthday Suit was in the collection. If you want to try some of the Liquid Lipsticks by Sleek but don’t want to spend a fortune in case you don’t like them or don’t get on with the formula, then I would definitely recommend this purchase for you. They are so affordable in this collection and considering they’re 4.99 each for a full sized purchase you’re totally saving so much money. Go along and check out your local boots or online, it’s in the 3 for 2 Christmas deal. They also have the highlight palette and Birthday Suit in a set for £10.

Book Review: Just The Way You Are

My weekly book review has arrived, don’t fret little ones. It’s here. How exciting! This weeks book was read on my iPad though the iBooks app. I bought it for 99p and can only be bought as an ebook. Admittedly, this book was bought on a whim (actually aren’t most of my books bought on a whim?) because it was reviewed by Giovanna Fletcher and I often swear by her reviews.

This story is about a woman named Eva who hasn’t ever been happy go lucky, especially regarding her relationship. Having been receiving letters from an anonymous writer for six years Eva thought she would never love anybody the way she did with Mr. Writer. Having a terrible time with her recent love interests Eva sets out to discover the identity of Mr. Writer in hopes that he is as perfect as his letters once were.

I really did enjoy this book but the story was predictable. Half way through the book I knew who Mr. Writer was and it really disappointed me. However, this book was so captivating. It was so well written and it flowed well, it’s just a shame that it was so predictable. If you’re looking for a romance book then you’ve got it right here. For 99p it’s a bargain and I totally recommend to those who are a sucker for a love story just like me!

Frank Body Scrubs

Hi, Guys!

A few weeks ago I decided to try out the Frank Body Scrub, I had heard such good reviews about this product and decided to try and give it ago. I had assumed it would cost a fortune but I was wrong. I bought mine in the Original Coffee Scrub from the Frank Body website for £11.95 with free delivery, check here. It’s available in Original, Coffee, Coconut, and Cacoa. Each purchase contains 200g/7oz. So inexpensive for the amount you’re given and I use a handful of the scrub for my whole body  which I think is fantastic. It’s full of so much goodness like tocopherol (Vitamin E) and sweet almond. It’s wonderful and smells amazing. I bought this expecting it to be just like another body scrub but it was totally different, I found it rougher than any I’ve ever used before but leaves my skin feeling soooooo soft. So soft ugh. I just ah. So in love with Frank and his scrubs. He’s a wonderful human.

It helped to reduce my dry skin, makes my skin so moisturised and feel super healthy. Genuinely think it’s fantastic. However, the biggest issue I have with this product is that it’s really messy to use. The water looked like I had swum around in a muddy puddle. It’s so fun to use though and it made my skin feel so much more healthy. For all you animal lovers out there, Franks Body Scrub is animal-friendly (Vegan) and full of so many natural and organic ingredients. I’m super excited to try out some more of the products available from Frank and especially to buy more of the body scrubs.

My Go To Outfits // Fashion

Hi, Guys!

When I choose my outfit of the day 9 times out of 10 I always go for comfort rather than style and If I manage to pick both, well that’s just a bonus. Almost all of my outfits are based on the type of shoes I plan on wearing that day, I’m definitely not a heels type of girl, even on nights out. They aren’t comfortable or at least the ones I own aren’t, I’m also flat footed and I struggle to walk in certain shoes and most shoes make my feet hurt so I tend to stick to Converse or boots. I don’t really wear much jewellery and my outfits are usually quite basic but I wear 4 rings and a necklace that was bought for me by Matt, on a daily basis.

I’m known to wear three different types of outfits which include casual days, comfy days and dressy days. These are the three types of outfits that I most identify to and I definitely feel that I’m at my best when I wear them. The different styles all make me feel different and confident. I feel like they’re the outfits that best suit my personality and how my mood changes throughout the day.

Comfy day:

A comfy day for me is definitely my favourite I will admit. Jogging bottoms and a hoodie is pure comfort although I will only really wear Jogging bottoms if I know I have to go somewhere, otherwise, it’s usually pyjama bottoms and a hoodie. Below you’ll see me wearing my favourite pair of jogging bottoms and a t-shirt, I’ll then add a hoodie and I’ll slip on my vans and away I go! I don’t really use a bag on my comfy days as it’s not common that I’ll go very far and I’m in pure comfort and bliss. It’s my favourite type of day and I love it especially when Matt does the same and we get to spend the day snacking and watching TV. Oooh, the happy feels.

Casual day:

A casual day for me is running errands, heading onto campus for lectures and the spending time in the library. I don’t like to really wear comfy clothes on these day only because It makes me feel productive to get dressed and do my hair and makeup. I become more motivated when I have prepared myself for the day. Usually, on these days I’ll wear a pair of jeans, Converse or Vand and match it with a basic t-shirt and a jacket. Depending on the weather I may add a coat, beanie and scarf but not always the beanie and I’ll definitely always have a bag on me. The bag I’m using at the moment is the River Island Brown Faux Suede Messenger handbag, available here.

Dressy day:

Dressy days are such a fun day for me, these are the days I usually have the most time to spare and I’m able to carefully consider the outfit and how it looks. I find it so fun to dress up and feel pretty and confident, I always like to choose outfits that flatter my curves and my short legs. At 5’2 I find that certain trousers and dresses are too long on me and look odd, whilst shirts and blouses make my upper body look chunky and uneven. This type of outfit is definitely chosen based on the weather that day but if it’s that bad, let’s be fair I’ll be in comfy clothes and not leaving my bed. So, in that case, I usually wear tights unless it’s too warm. I may match a tube skirt or skater skirt with a slim fit t-shirt and boots or trainers and possibly black or skin colour tights, although depending on the colours I may add burgundy tights to show some colour. I may add a cardigan and away I go. Take a look at my choice of outfit for a dressy day below. This type of outfit is the sort I’ll wear on a night out or for a meal, I’m not really fancy and I’m usually quite basic with my outfit choices. I like comfort over glamour, unless I know it’s a really fancy event but it’s not often I’ll go to them.

So here we have it, my go-to outfits for a casual day, comfy day and dressy day. Let me know what you go to outfit is in the comments below.

Birch Box Unboxing // October 2016

I’ve recently become a Birch Box subscriber and I love the fact that each month I have a surprise in the post from me to me full of goodies. I also love that I’m able to test out a whole new bunch of makeup and skincare for £12.95 a month. The October box is designed to match the element suited to your zodiac sign. As an Aries I received fire and I blooming’ love it a lot.

This month I received 5 products and a brush, this also includes a full sized product. How exciting! Let’s jump straight into it.

The first item I noticed and become super excited about is the Number 4 Fluoro5 Elixrr Restore and Repair Oil. This retails at £18 for a full sized product. I love products that help my hair look shinner and generally more healthy. After several years of colouring my hair I’m now at a point where my hair is slightly ruined and dry. I’ve used the Moroccan Oil for so long and I’ve been looking for something different, I definitely think I may have it here.

In my box I also got a Lord and Berry 20100 Maxi Matte Crayon Lipstick in Intimacy. Retailing at £12 in stores and online. This colour is beautiful, genuinely went to lipstick heaven. It’s a pink mauve colour and is so creamy. I swatched it on my hand and it felt so soft and perfectly applied. I can’t wait to match this with a mauve eye and cheek look.

I also got the Rituals The Ritual of Sakura Magic Touch Body Cream. This is sold for £19.50 and I’m most looking  forward to using this on my arm once I’ve had my cast removed in 6 weeks (gross but true). This is a Japanese made product and says to make each day feel like a new beginning. It can be used on both face and body too, which I think is fab! I’m always looking for new moisturisers.

They also included a basic eyebrow brush which retails at £1.99. I already own two of these so I gave mine to my friend Nimbob (actually Naomi but this is what she will be referred to Nimbob forever). It’s normal, has a comb side and brush side, not much to say really.

I also got the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. This is pretty much an alterative to dry shampoo, in fact the booklet that is included with the box says I should have received the Batiste Dry Shampoo which I know I already love. However, I’m still looking forward to trying this sample sized product especially because I’m 1 handed and washing and styling my hair is proving difficult. This product is retailed at a massive £39! Bizarre pricing for a texturising, dry shampooing spray.

Lastly I received the Doux Me Pure Spring Water Spray. Again, the booklet says I should have received the Whish Renewing Mud Mask and a part of me is slightly disappointed I didn’t get the mask but I’m also happy with the water spray. I love anything that helps my skin feel more hydrated and, wakes me up and makes my make up look good too. A full size of this product is worth £16 and I hope it compares well to the Urban Decay Spray!

Overall this months has given my some good and eh, thoughts. However, I’m mostly excited for the hair oil and face and body moisturiser. Let me know what you guys thought of your boxes!

Book Review: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Hey, it’s that time of week again!

I have been a huge Harry Potter fan for as long as I can remember. I’ve read all the books and I’ve watched all the films and to the day, I can’t stop loving them. This book was published in aid of Comic Relief and all of J K Rowling’s royalties went towards Comic Relief. It’s fantastic, it’s designed to look as if it’s the property of Harry Potter himself. The film is due to be released November 198th in the UK. The trailer is available here.

It’s pretty much an A to Z list of all the mythical creatures in the wizarding world. It’s truly magical and definitely helped fill the gap for not having any new Harry Potter books or films. It’s so fun to read and is something you can look at over and over again without getting bored. In the book, it has the Ministry of Magic Classification, in which provides 1 to 5 crosses for each fantastic beast in regards to their levels of danger. For example, Unicorn has 4 crosses and is stated to require specialist knowledge and skilled wizard training to be handled.

It’s wonderfully designed and written, although if you’re looking for a story in this book you’re better off reading the Harry Potter books. It has no real story to it but it’s still so clever and I for one cannot wait for the film to be released. I bought mine from Waterstones for £5, have a look here. You should definitely read this if you’re a lover of Harry Potter!

Birch Box Unboxing // September 2016

Another spontaneous blog post on a Thursday, I don’t think this will be a weekly thing.. I hope! I just had to share with you guys what I’ve begun purchasing. Side note, I still have a fractured wrist so I’m writing this with my left hand, sorry for any errors!

I’ve always loved the idea of beauty subscription boxes and I finally ordered my first, through Birch Boxes. The September edition had a 2 for 1 deal, which meant that I received September 2016 box and July 2016 box and I was also able to choose 1 full sized product. I definitely believe I picked the right month to join! Firstly, lets discuss the packaging as they’re utterly adorable and so beautifully designed. I love how super practical but so fun and creative. Secondly, I paid a total of £12.95 (£10 for the box + £2.95 p+p) and received 5 products per box including a full sized product. I personally think they’re totally worth the money and you’re able to try a new variety of beauty products every month. What more could you want? eh!

In the September 2016 box I received some really exciting products. I probably should mention, your box shouldn’t have a line through the front, mine does because I’m a numpty who wouldn’t ask for help.

My full sized product was the ModelCo Creme Rouge. Septembers edition allowed you to choose either the cream blush or a highlight trio. As I recently purchased some new highlighters I thought I would be best suited to the blush. I’ve been so excited to try this product, it’s price is £14 and I think that’s a brilliant product include and it already makes your money’s worth. It’s a beautiful pink/red shade and can be worn on cheek and lip.

I also received the Amika: Bombshell Blowout Spray. This is designed to help protect the hair, add texture, volume and repair. It’s suitable for all hair types and the reviews are saying that it’s an excellent product. It’s retail price for a full bottle is £14.99. The instructions state to apply In sections to damp hair and spray from roots to ends before blow drying. I have really frizzy hair so I hope this helps to combat my constant humid hair look.

The next item is something I’m super excited excited about, is the Bliss Fabulous Drench ‘n’ Quench Moisturiser. It’s retail price is £29.50. This is the most expensive moisturiser I’ve ever used. My bottle is 15ml but you only need to use a small amount to cover the whole face. It’s a cream to water formula and is so silky to use. It supposed to be super hydrating for the skin and I’ve been using this since it arrived on Monday and I’m so glad. It’s made my skin feel so healthy and nourished.

Nuxe is a popular known brand, it has a range of products that cater for all skin and hair types. I got a sample of the Nuxe Shower Oil.  This is the only product that I’m not so enthusiastic to try, although it does have really good reviews I’m still slightly apprehensive to try it. I have such sensitive skin and I’m always scared to try new products but I’m definitely going to give a go eventually.

The final item in my box is the Puriskin Nurse Nail and Hand Cream. The retail price for this item is £12.99. Its stated to smooth out hands and make them feel fresh. I rarely paint my nails and I’ve got a terrible bad habit of biting my nails through nerves or stress. However this product has definitely enticed me.

July 2016 box was in collaboration with Millie Mackintosh, she is absolutely gorgeous and her make up choices are always excellent. The items come in a small grey bag  that says ‘best day ever’, it’s adorable and I’ll probably find use for this somehow.  I receive this extra box in the 2 for 1 deal to celebrate the 6th year of Birch Boxes, the July 2016 box was the most popular of the year. I received 5 products and 1 full sized included, I was really looking forward to having the extra box with my first purchase.

My first item was the Loc x Millie Ultra Gloss Lip Pencil in Bohemiam Rose. The retail price is £9. It’s a beautiful rose pink colour and has such a buttery formula. It’s instructions state to line the lips and then fill them in however, this seems to be more of a summery colour and I’m unlikely to wear it throughout this time of year.

Nails Inc areknown to be an expensive nail varnish brand and having never owned any I was excited to receive such a beautiful colour. The retail price is £15 for a full sized bottle. It’s called Porchester Square and is a nude with slight tint of purple. It’s such a pretty autumn colour and I can’t wait to try it.

Next Is the Thermaliv Lotion Micellaire, its full price is £12.90. This is pretty much your average micellar water that removes make up and doesn’t require any rinsing. The description says it removes away impurities to leave skin soft, refreshed and soothed. Can’t go wrong with that can you.

In my September edition I received the Amika blowout spray, in The July Box I got the Amika Nourshing Mask. It’s retail price is £19.99 and I’m so excited to try it, it’s supposed to help repair split ends and dryness. I’ll prbsbly try this after I’ve shampooed my hair and leave for 5-10 minutes before rinising.

Finally, the last item is the Indeed Labs Hydraluron Moisture Boosting Mask. These come in a pack of 4 for £19.99. We all know I love a good face mask and I haven’t ever tried a sheet mask so I’m super looking forward to this product. It says to leave for 15 minutes and then message in the serum, not to rinse away. Sounds fantastic and I’m excited!

Here we go, my first Birch Box! I hope you enjoyed and I’ll no doubt be posting October edition. Let me know what you think.
